The Greek word allelon gives us a helpful introduction to the ways in which Christians should serve each other, because this Greek word means “one another” or “each other.” It is often used to describe our mutual obligations — the responsibility that all members have toward one another..

The most important relationship you will ever have is with Jesus Christ. That’s why we want to see people of all nations know who He is and experience a personal relationship with Him. We want to help everyone grow in their faith, become more like Christ, and share the truth of God’s Word with others.

Jesus spoke about the “poor in spirit” and pronounced a blessing on them. Is Jesus talking about the financially poor? In Matthew 5:3 He said, “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”The poor in spirit may be those who are despised in this world, they are looked down on by many; they are humble, contrite people. The poor in spirit are blessed because they are small in their own eyes. Since God resists the proud, He gives grace only to the humble (James 4:6).The poor in spirit are not those who are not prosperous necessarily, but those who consider others better than themselves.

The reality is that it is in a believer’s best interest to give to the poor because, “He who gives to the poor will lack nothing, but he who closes his eyes to them receives many curses” (Prov 28:27). Helping the poor is actually an imperative command, as Paul told Timothy to “Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life” (1 Tim 6:18-19).

“Come, you blessed of my Father, possess the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world..” (Mt. 25:34)We have been called to a mission of profound love: to pray, witness and sacrifice out of love for Jesus on behalf of unborn children and their mothers who are in a crisis pregnancy.

A great prayer for life is urgently needed, a prayer which will rise up throughout the world. Through special initiatives and in daily prayer, may an impassioned plea rise to God, the Creator and lover of life, from every Christian community, from every group and association, from every family and from the heart of every believer. Jesus himself has shown us by his own example

When Jesus fed the thousands, He did not first check to see if they would be His disciples. He did not require them to come to Him for salvation. He simply filled a need by filling empty stomachs. Feeding the poor does not define the Christian; it is part of being a Christian. The man who stands on the street with a sign that reads, “Will work for food” may not be served best by giving him money. Perhaps he is sincere but how do we know that he simply wants to receive money so that he can continue his addiction to drugs or alcohol. The fact is that only God knows.

Christians are commanded to help one another but we are also called to help those who are less fortunate than we are. Proverbs 21:13 is among the most powerful calls from God to help those who are hungry because “If a man shuts his ears to the cry of the poor, he too will cry out and not be answered.” First John 3:17 states that, “If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him?”Job wrote, “I rescued the poor who cried for help, and the fatherless who had none to assist them” (Job 29:12).

The deliberate decision to deprive an innocent human being of his life is always morally evil and can never be licit either as an end in itself or as a means to a good end. Itis in fact a grave act of disobedience to the moral law, and indeed to God himself, the author and guarantor of that law; it contradicts the fundamental virtues of justice and charity.

The Gospel of life is for the whole of human society. To be actively pro-life is to contribute to the renewal of society through the promotion of the common good. It is impossible to further the common good without acknowledging and defending the right to life, upon which all the other inalienable rights of individuals are founded and from which they develop.
